Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit's gripping new thriller series Mrs Deshpande decisively claimed the number one position on India's OTT viewership charts for the week ending December 28, 2025, registering an impressive 4.2 million views and surpassing the much-hyped final season of the internationally acclaimed Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things.
Ormax Media's latest weekly report revealed that the JioHotstar original, featuring Dixit in a chilling role as a cunning serial killer, outperformed Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2—which debuted on December 25 and garnered 3.3 million views—despite the latter dominating global social media trends, fan theories, and discussions as the long-running series concluded on New Year's Day 2026.
Mrs Deshpande gained a significant advantage from its earlier release on December 19, allowing a full seven days of streaming during the measured period, combined with JioHotstar's extensive subscriber reach in the Indian market, factors that collectively propelled it ahead of the mid-week Netflix launch in domestic rankings.

The top five list further showcased a diverse mix of content, with Netflix's regional title Single Pala securing third place at 1.8 million views, followed by JioHotstar's Pharma with 1.6 million, and Prime Video's returning series Four More Shots Please rounding out the rankings at 1.3 million views, reflecting the intense competition among platforms during the holiday season.
Helmed by acclaimed director Nagesh Kukunoor and adapted from the French suspense drama La Mante, Mrs Deshpande co-stars Priyanshu Chatterjee and Siddharth Chandekar in a cat-and-mouse narrative where police seek assistance from an incarcerated killer to catch a copycat, drawing mixed critical reception for its deliberate pacing but widespread acclaim for Dixit's commanding performance, while Stranger Things Season 5 solidified its legacy globally with 34.8 million views for the finale batch alone, cementing its status as Netflix's third-most-watched English-language series ever behind Wednesday and Adolescence.
