An old anecdote shared by Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut about attempting to flirt with her co-star Akshaye Khanna has resurfaced and gone viral, especially amid renewed attention on Khanna following his performance in the recent film Dhurandhar. The incident was recalled during an episode of Koffee With Karan Season 3, where Kangana appeared alongside Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. Host Karan Johar asked if she had ever tried to flirt with someone who completely ignored her, prompting Kangana to immediately name Akshaye Khanna without hesitation.
Kangana explained that she first tried to strike up a conversation with him and then attempted to flirt, but received no response whatsoever. "I tried to talk to him and then I tried to flirt with him but he never spoke to me," she said candidly on the show. She further described Khanna's reserved nature, adding, "He doesn’t talk, he doesn’t talk to anybody." The comment highlighted Akshaye's well-known reputation among industry peers for being introverted and focused on his work, often keeping to himself on set.
Anil Kapoor, who was present during the episode, backed up Kangana's account with a humorous recollection. He shared that Kangana had once told him, "Yaar yeh dekhta hi nahi hai meri taraf" (he doesn’t even look at me). The light-hearted exchange underscored the contrast between Kangana's outgoing personality and Akshaye's characteristically quiet demeanor, which has been mentioned by multiple co-stars over the years.

The two actors had shared screen space in the 2010 comedy No Problem, directed by Anees Bazmee. Despite working together, Kangana's attempts at interaction apparently went unnoticed or unreciprocated by Khanna, who is often described as maintaining a professional distance. No direct public reaction from Akshaye Khanna himself to Kangana's comments has surfaced, aligning with his low-key approach to media and personal buzz.
The resurfaced clip has sparked amusement among fans, particularly as Dhurandhar—featuring Khanna in a praised intense role—continues to draw attention. It serves as a reminder of Akshaye Khanna's enduring image as one of Bollywood's more private and enigmatic figures in an industry full of outspoken personalities.
