Actor Jayaram on Monday said that all those involved in the alleged misappropriation of gold offerings from Sabarimala must be identified and brought to justice, asserting that devotees deserve complete transparency in matters concerning the hill shrine.
Responding to media queries amid the ongoing controversy, Jayaram said that Sabarimala is not merely a temple but a sacred space of faith for millions of devotees across the country. He maintained that any wrongdoing related to offerings made by pilgrims should be thoroughly investigated and those responsible held accountable under the law. “If there has been misappropriation, action must be taken against everyone involved,” he said.
The remarks come against the backdrop of allegations that gold offered by devotees at Sabarimala was improperly handled or diverted. While authorities have not publicly detailed the full scope of the alleged irregularities, the issue has sparked political debate and public discussion in Kerala, with calls for greater oversight in temple administration.

Sabarimala, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, witnesses one of the largest annual pilgrimages in India, particularly during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season. Devotees traditionally offer gold, cash and other valuables as part of their prayers, making proper accounting and secure management of offerings a matter of significant public trust. The temple is administered by the Travancore Devaswom Board, which oversees several major temples in the state.
Jayaram emphasised that the matter should not be politicised but addressed with seriousness and impartiality. He said that ensuring transparency in temple affairs would strengthen public confidence and protect the sanctity of religious institutions. Authorities are expected to continue their probe into the allegations, with further details likely to emerge as investigations progress.
