Priyadarshan’s latest film Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, continued to struggle at the domestic box office on its fifth day, recording a net collection of ₹0.70 crore across 2,976 shows, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film, which opened to mixed reviews, has shown limited growth since its release and has so far collected ₹8.75 crore in India net collections. Its performance comes despite the presence of two established Bollywood actors and the film’s connection to Priyadarshan’s earlier Malayalam thriller Oppam.

The Day 5 collection takes Haiwaan’s total India gross earnings to ₹10.46 crore, while its overseas gross collection stands at ₹3.15 crore. The film’s worldwide gross collection has reached ₹13.61 crore so far. The figures indicate that the film has struggled to generate substantial momentum during its opening week, with domestic earnings remaining modest compared with the scale of its cast and production. The latest figures are based on trade estimates and may be revised as final collection data becomes available.

Haiwaan opened with ₹3 crore on its first day, followed by ₹2.50 crore and ₹1.85 crore over the weekend. The film’s earnings subsequently remained subdued during the early weekdays. The report noted that Tuesday’s discounted ticket prices helped the film avoid a decline compared with its Monday numbers, although the promotional pricing did not translate into a significant rise in overall collections. The fifth-day performance suggests that the film has yet to experience a notable improvement in audience turnout.

The film is the official Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam film Oppam and follows a dark cat-and-mouse thriller narrative. The story centres on a visually impaired judge, his hidden daughter and the danger that emerges when a predatory criminal discovers her existence. The plot places the central characters in a tense confrontation, with the narrative revolving around protection, pursuit and survival. The film’s treatment and performances have received mixed responses from viewers and critics since its release.

Haiwaan has been co-written and directed by Priyadarshan and produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films. Alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, the cast includes Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher. The film marks the seventh collaboration between Akshay and Saif, who last appeared together in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s 2007 action comedy Tashan. Their reunion had generated interest among audiences ahead of the release.

In his review, film critic Saibal Chatterjee described Haiwaan as a glossy and flashy thriller while noting that the director remained faithful to the core of the story. The film’s box office performance, however, has remained restrained through Day 5, with no major signs of growth in domestic collections. Its future earnings will depend on audience response over the remainder of the opening week and the extent to which it can attract viewers despite its slow start.
