Amid widespread media buzz following the government’s ban on 25 OTT platforms over alleged vulgar content, producer Ektaa Kapoor has issued a strong clarification, distancing herself from one of the banned platforms — ALTT.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Kapoor made it clear that neither she nor her mother Shobha Kapoor has had any connection with ALTT since June 2021. “We are not associated in any capacity whatsoever with ALTT,” she emphasized, adding that they both stepped down from the platform more than three years ago.
The government crackdown, citing obscene and sexually explicit content, resulted in the blocking of apps such as ULLU, Desiflix, Jalva, NeonX VIP, ShowHit, and others, including ALTT. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting found these platforms in violation of content and IT laws.

Kapoor's statement added that Balaji Telefilms Limited, listed on both the BSE and NSE, is a professionally run company. Following a recent merger with ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., the ALTT platform has been operated solely by Balaji Telefilms since June 20, 2025, as approved by the Hon’ble NCLT.
“Any insinuation suggesting my continued involvement is false and strongly denied,” Kapoor noted, urging media houses to verify facts before reporting.
She concluded by reaffirming that Balaji Telefilms is fully compliant with all legal norms and operates under the highest standards of corporate governance.
