Actor Dheeraj Dhoopar has addressed the controversy surrounding allegations of cheating during his stint on reality show Lock Upp 2. Following his eviction from the show, Dheeraj defended himself against claims that his family attempted to send him handwritten notes containing outside information, saying the alleged messages never reached him.

Speaking at a press conference, Dheeraj questioned the fairness of the accusations and compared the controversy over the intercepted notes with the return of previously eliminated contestants Harshad Chopda and Yogesh Rawat. He argued that the returning contestants had a greater advantage as they had watched episodes after their exit and gained insights into the strategies and relationships inside the house.

“What cheating? The one where two people came back into the game or the cheating that never reached me?” Dheeraj said while defending his position. He claimed that contestants who returned after watching the show had access to information about other participants’ gameplay, which he believed created a bigger advantage.

Addressing the handwritten note controversy, the actor said that he never received any message from his wife, actress Vinny Arora. He maintained that her intention was only to check on his health and not to influence his performance or provide any information related to the competition.

Dheeraj said the notes contained personal concerns rather than game-related details. He defended his wife’s actions, stating that her decision came from an emotional place and that she would have done the same if their positions had been reversed. Vinny Arora had earlier accepted responsibility for sending the notes and clarified that they were meant only as a health-related message.

During his time on Lock Upp 2, the show’s makers alleged that Dheeraj’s family attempted to send handwritten chits containing external information on two occasions. The messages were intercepted before reaching him, and the controversy later led to a warning from host Riteish Deshmukh. The reality show, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, features several television personalities and is currently streaming on Netflix ahead of its grand finale.
