The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted relief to actor Khushi Kapoor in a suit seeking protection of her personality and publicity rights. The court directed the removal of alleged obscene and pornographic content involving the actor from social media platforms and ordered takedown of material linked to unauthorised exploitation of her identity.
Justice Jyoti Singh passed the directions while hearing Khushi’s plea for protection against unauthorised use of her name, image and other personality attributes. The court also indicated that it would issue a John Doe order, extending protection to unidentified individuals involved in the unauthorised use or exploitation of her identity.
The directions also cover content linked to the unauthorised sale of merchandise using Khushi’s personality. The case comes amid growing legal action by public figures against the misuse of their names, photographs, likenesses and other identifiable attributes across digital platforms.

Khushi’s case comes a day after her sister, actor Janhvi Kapoor, secured similar relief from the Delhi High Court. The court ordered the removal of objectionable content and unauthorised exploitation of Janhvi’s personality rights but declined to impose a blanket ban on fan pages, noting that such pages can contain a range of material, including praise and criticism.
The Delhi High Court has increasingly dealt with disputes involving celebrity personality rights, including unauthorised merchandise, digital content and AI-generated material. Several prominent actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, Tabu, Jr NTR, Allu Arjun, Nagarjuna and R Madhavan, have previously approached courts seeking protection against unauthorised commercial or digital use of their identities.
Khushi made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s 2023 Netflix film The Archies and later appeared in Loveyapa and Nadaaniyan in 2025. Her upcoming projects include Mom 2. The latest court order adds to the growing body of legal action aimed at protecting celebrities from unauthorised exploitation of their identities online.
