Actor Darshan Jariwala has recalled his experience of shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, describing Ranbir Kapoor as highly confident in his acting abilities and calling Salman Khan’s cameo in the film a masterstroke by director Rajkumar Santoshi. Jariwala, who played Ranbir’s father in the 2009 romantic comedy, said the cast spent around 40 days together in Ooty during the shoot, giving him an opportunity to observe the interactions between the lead actors.

Speaking about Ranbir and Katrina Kaif, Jariwala said there was noticeable chemistry between the two actors during the filming. He reflected on how an actor’s personal experiences and the people around them can influence their performance on screen. His comments come in the context of the widely discussed relationship between Ranbir and Katrina, which developed around the period when the two worked together on the film.

Jariwala also recalled the atmosphere surrounding Salman Khan’s appearance in the movie. He described Salman as a major star whose presence immediately created excitement and said the actor was essentially playing himself in the film. According to Jariwala, Salman’s ability to command attention from fans was evident during the shoot, reflecting the larger-than-life aura associated with his public image.

Salman’s cameo was incorporated into the film’s storyline, with Katrina’s character portrayed as a fan of the actor. She visits a film set where Salman is shooting, creating one of the movie’s memorable celebrity appearances. Jariwala described the decision to cast Salman in the sequence as a masterstroke by Santoshi, suggesting that his presence added an additional layer of entertainment to the romantic comedy.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani was released in November 2009 and featured Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The film went on to become a commercial success and was among the notable Hindi releases of that year. Its storyline centred on Prem, played by Ranbir, and his relationship with Jenny, played by Katrina, while the film combined romance, comedy and a series of supporting characters.

Jariwala’s recollections offer a behind-the-scenes perspective on the making of the film and the personalities involved in its production. His comments particularly highlight Ranbir’s confidence as an actor and Salman’s star presence during the cameo sequence. More than a decade after the film’s release, the movie continues to attract attention because of its cast, its comic treatment of romance and the real-life developments involving its lead actors around the time of filming.
