Veteran music composer Pyarelal, one half of the legendary Bollywood composer duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal, lost his wife Sunila on Monday. She passed away in Mumbai at the age of 78. Her demise was announced by members of the extended family through a statement, describing her as a woman of grace, devotion and quiet strength. Later in the day, Sunila's last rites were performed at the Santacruz Crematorium, where Pyarelal, despite his advanced age and limited mobility, attended the funeral and carried out the final rituals while seated in a wheelchair.

According to family members, Sunila, affectionately known as "Amma", was a source of strength and unwavering support for her family throughout her life. In a statement announcing her passing, the family said she lived with compassion and unconditional love, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew her. They expressed hope that she had found eternal peace and remembered her as a guiding presence whose kindness touched many lives.

Visuals from the funeral showed Pyarelal participating in the final rites from a wheelchair, as he is no longer able to walk comfortably because of age-related health issues. Surrounded by family members and close associates, the veteran composer performed the rituals with solemnity. The emotional scenes reflected the profound personal loss for the 84-year-old musician, who had already endured the passing of his long-time musical partner, Laxmikant, nearly three decades ago.
