Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic fantasy action film The Odyssey has made a strong debut at the Indian box office, earning more than ₹17 crore on its opening day. The film, inspired by Homer’s ancient Greek poem Odyssey, witnessed a positive response from audiences across the country and recorded a solid start despite facing competition from other releases. According to early estimates from trade website Sacnilk, The Odyssey collected around ₹17.40 crore net in India on its first day of release. Including gross earnings, the film’s total domestic collection reached approximately ₹20.76 crore on its opening day, making it one of the notable Hollywood openings in the Indian market.
The film was released across India in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, allowing it to reach a wider audience base. However, the original English version emerged as the biggest contributor to the opening-day earnings. Early estimates suggest that the English-language release accounted for the majority of the film’s revenue, collecting around ₹13.75 crore net from Indian theatres.

The Hindi-dubbed version of The Odyssey also attracted audiences and contributed an estimated ₹1.90 crore to the opening-day total. The Telugu version collected approximately ₹1.10 crore, while the Tamil version added around ₹65 lakh. The strong performance of the English version highlights Nolan’s popularity among Indian audiences, particularly among viewers who closely follow international cinema and large-scale theatrical releases.
