Arjun Rampal Recalls Difficult Phase As Marriage Collapsed During Mother’s Cancer Treatment

Actor Arjun Rampal has opened up about what he described as the “darkest phase” of his life, reflecting on a deeply challenging period marked by personal loss, his mother’s cancer diagnosis, and the breakdown of his marriage. The actor shared his experience during a conversation on the YouTube show Cancelled to Crown, where he spoke candidly about emotional isolation and the sense of losing stability across multiple areas of his life.

Rampal said the most difficult period for him was when he felt disconnected from himself and unable to cope with the emotional strain of simultaneous personal crises. He revealed that his marriage was going through difficulties at the same time his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Rampal said the situation became overwhelming as he was dealing with the possibility of losing his mother while also navigating a separation in his personal life.

He also noted that he had lost his father a few years earlier, adding to the emotional weight of the period. According to Rampal, the combination of family illness, relationship breakdown, and accumulated personal loss made that phase particularly distressing. He described feeling as though he was “losing everything” he had built over the years, including close relationships and emotional stability.

Rampal also spoke about how his partner, model and designer Gabriella Demetriades, became a source of support during this time. He said their relationship helped him stay grounded as both were navigating difficult personal circumstances and worked through them together. The couple later went on to build their life together, welcoming two children, Arik in 2019 and Ariv in 2023.

Reflecting on the experience, Rampal emphasised the importance of personal accountability and introspection during hardship. He said that blaming circumstances or others only deepens emotional distress, and that growth comes from acknowledging one’s own role in navigating difficult phases of life.
