Seventeen years after the 26/11 terror attacks that shook Mumbai to its core, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has lent his voice to a powerful short film paying homage to the victims and heroes of the tragedy. The film, narrated by Bachchan, was unveiled by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during the “Global Peace Honours” event at the Gateway of India. The stirring visual tribute not only remembered the 166 people who lost their lives but also celebrated the resilience and spirit of Mumbai.
In the animated short, Bachchan narrates the story of how the city, though deeply scarred, refused to break in the face of terror. Amruta Fadnavis described the film as a “powerful” reminder of India’s unity and perseverance, noting that it left audiences moved to tears. “It is a tribute to the 26/11 martyr families and the victims of the Pahalgam attack,” she shared on Instagram, emphasizing the emotional connection the film evoked among viewers.
Bollywood celebrities joined in the remembrance across social media platforms. Actor Akshay Kumar expressed solidarity with the victims through a heartfelt post on X, writing, “Never forgive, never forget. Jai Hind. #26/11.” Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, actor Vikrant Massey, and Veer Pahariya reshared Mumbai Police’s tribute post, while actress Isha Koppikar posted a moving message stating, “Some heroes wear uniforms… and they never fade from history.” She also attended the tribute ceremony, calling it an honour to pay respects at the Gateway of India, one of the pivotal locations of the attack.

The 26/11 attacks remain one of the darkest episodes in modern Indian history. On the night of November 26, 2008, ten terrorists from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba infiltrated Mumbai via sea routes, launching coordinated assaults on key locations, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, CST railway station, and Leopold Café. The carnage went on for nearly 60 hours, leaving 166 dead and around 300 injured. Nine of the attackers were killed by security forces, while the lone captured gunman, Ajmal Kasab, was later sentenced to death and executed in 2012.
Each year, November 26 serves as a solemn reminder of sacrifice and resilience. The latest cinematic tribute featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s narration has revived national memory, offering a blend of cinematic storytelling and heartfelt remembrance. Through this creative homage, Bollywood once again underscores its commitment to honouring India’s martyrs while spreading a message of peace, unity, and unbreakable national spirit.
