Cricket legend and former India captain MS Dhoni, known for his cool-headed charisma, sent fans into a frenzy after being spotted cruising through Ranchi, Jharkhand, in his customised Hummer H2, valued at approximately Rs 75 lakh. The vehicle, adorned with a striking Indian Army-themed design featuring fighter jets, tanks, soldiers, and aircraft, reflects Dhoni’s deep respect for the armed forces, a passion he has often expressed as an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army.
A viral video capturing Dhoni behind the wheel of the modified Hummer surfaced on social media, drawing widespread admiration for its patriotic flair. According to IANS, the customisation was executed in 2024 by a Ranchi-based car detailing studio, Auto Max, under the guidance of founder Achyut Kishore. “Dhoni personally requested an Army-themed design to honour the forces. It took weeks to perfect the artwork,” Kishore told The Times of India, noting that the modifications added at least Rs 5 lakh to the vehicle’s cost, pushing its value closer to Rs 80 lakh, as per Car Dekho.
Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020 with three ICC titles—2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy—remains a towering figure in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2025, the 44-year-old stepped in as captain for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined by an elbow injury.
Despite Dhoni’s resilient leadership, CSK struggled, winning only four matches and finishing at the bottom of the IPL table. His aggressive batting, hampered by a recurring knee injury, showed signs of age, yet his tactical acumen secured a few late-season victories.

Speaking at a recent promotional event in Mumbai, Dhoni hinted at uncertainty about his IPL future. “I have until December to decide whether I’ll play. I’ll take a couple of months to make my decision,” he said, sparking speculation among fans about his potential retirement. Posts on X reflect a mix of awe for his Hummer and hope for his continued CSK presence, with users praising his “Captain Cool” persona and military tribute.
The Hummer, a 2008 model with a 6.2-litre V8 engine, is one of many in Dhoni’s enviable car collection, which includes a Pontiac Firebird, vintage bikes, and a Mercedes GLE. His love for automobiles and the Indian Army has endeared him further to fans, cementing his status as a national icon both on and off the field.
