Indian automaker Tata Motors on Wednesday launched the facelifted 2026 versions of the Tiago and Tiago EV, introducing major updates to design, features, comfort, and powertrain technology. The refreshed hatchback lineup is aimed at strengthening Tata’s position in the competitive entry-level segment against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS.
The updated Tiago now comes loaded with several premium features, including a 360-degree camera, dual wireless phone chargers, rear AC vents, auto-folding ORVMs, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, paddle shifters with the AMT gearbox, and auto headlamps. Tata Motors also claimed that the hatchback offers a segment-best seating height of 626 mm, designed to improve visibility and ease of entry and exit for passengers.
One of the biggest highlights of the launch was Tata’s introduction of a factory-fitted CNG-AMT combination in the Tiago. The company said the Tiago is now India’s first car to offer a CNG powertrain with an AMT gearbox. Tata added that the AMT setup has been tuned for smoother driving in city traffic, while its twin-cylinder CNG technology helps create more usable boot space compared to conventional CNG layouts.

Speaking during the launch event, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, described the new Tiago as more than just a regular facelift. He called it a “return of aspiration” for Indian customers looking for an affordable yet feature-rich hatchback. Tata also highlighted the Tiago’s four-star Global NCAP safety rating as a major advantage in the segment.
The company also revealed fresh updates regarding its electric vehicle business during the Tiago EV presentation. Tata Motors stated that it now has more than three lakh EV customers in India, while the Tiago EV alone has crossed 75,000 buyers nationwide. The automaker said EV adoption in India remains strongest in the premium category, but the Tiago EV continues to target customers seeking practical and accessible electric mobility.
The 2026 Tiago and Tiago EV facelifts represent the first major overhaul of the hatchback in several years and are expected to play an important role in Tata Motors’ strategy in both the affordable EV and petrol-CNG hatchback markets. Detailed pricing and variant-wise specifications are expected to be announced gradually following the official launch event.
