Apple Reportedly Testing Deep Red Finish For iPhone 18 Pro Series

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce a deep red colour option for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, marking what could be the return of bold red finishes in its premium lineup after several years of more muted Pro colour schemes.

The rumour originates from multiple supply-chain and Weibo-based leaks, with well-known analyst reports suggesting Apple is actively testing a “deep red” or crimson shade for its next-generation Pro devices. The colour is also said to be under evaluation alongside other experimental tones, though red currently appears to be the leading candidate for a new signature finish.

Industry reports indicate that the idea is not entirely new. Earlier leaks suggested Apple has been exploring multiple unconventional shades—including variations of purple and brown—but these are now believed to be derivative interpretations of the same deep red concept rather than separate colour options.

Analysts also point out that Apple’s colour strategy for Pro iPhones has become more experimental in recent years. Following the success of standout finishes like Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro series, Apple appears to be leaning further into bold, high-visibility colourways that differentiate Pro models from standard variants and strengthen their premium identity.

Another factor supporting the red rumour is the apparent industry-wide trend cycle. Leakers claim that similar deep red tones have already been observed in prototype devices from Android manufacturers, suggesting that Apple’s design direction may be influencing broader smartphone colour forecasting for the 2026 flagship season.

At the same time, reports suggest Apple may continue its recent pattern of removing traditional black finishes from Pro models, potentially making space for more distinctive colours like red to become the visual flagship option of the lineup.

While the deep red iPhone 18 Pro is still unconfirmed and subject to change before launch, multiple independent leaks now align on the same possibility. Apple is expected to finalise its iPhone 18 series colour palette closer to its September 2026 launch window, when official details will clarify whether “red” truly becomes the next Pro identity colour.
