Aakash Chopra Questions Suryakumar Yadav: "Didn't Let Varun Bowl Full Overs"
Aakash Chopra questions India’s decision to not give Varun Chakravarthy his full quota of overs.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised concerns over the team management’s handling of Varun Chakravarthy during the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Chopra expressed disappointment that the mystery spinner was not allowed to complete his full quota of four overs consistently during the group stage matches.
He specifically questioned the captaincy approach of Suryakumar Yadav, pointing out that Chakravarthy bowled his full four overs only once. In India’s group-stage clash against the Netherlands, the spinner delivered an impressive spell of 3/14 in three overs, helping India secure a 17-run victory. Chopra argued that restricting his overs may have denied him the opportunity to claim a five-wicket haul.
Chakravarthy was awarded the Impact Player medal in the dressing room following his performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He dismissed Max O'Dowd, Colin Ackermann, and Aryan Dutt, restricting the Netherlands to 176/7 while chasing India’s target of 194.

With the win, India completed four victories in four group-stage matches and advanced to the Super Eight round with strong momentum. The Netherlands exited the tournament with one win and three losses, including narrow defeats against India and Pakistan.
