Amit Shah Conducts Five Events, Rahul Gandhi Begins Campaign In West Bengal Today
Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi launch intensive campaigns across West Bengal ahead of crucial Assembly elections.
As the West Bengal Assembly election campaign intensifies, major political leaders have ramped up their schedules with multiple rallies and roadshows planned across the state on Tuesday. The high-stakes electoral battle has seen Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders simultaneously crisscrossing key constituencies as campaigning enters a crucial phase.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a packed itinerary featuring four public meetings and one roadshow. His rallies are planned in Manikchak and Gazole in Malda district, Kaliaganj in Nadia district, and Gangarampur in South 24 Parganas, with an additional roadshow also slated in South 24 Parganas. The focus of his campaign is expected to be on consolidating support in minority-dominated and politically sensitive regions.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has begun his campaign trail in the state with three public rallies scheduled across northern and central West Bengal. His itinerary includes meetings in Raiganj, Chanchal, and Samsernagar. Gandhi is expected to travel via Purnia in Bihar before entering West Bengal by road, marking the start of his party’s renewed push in the state.

In parallel, the ruling Trinamool Congress is also stepping up its campaign efforts. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to address multiple rallies in Pingla, Tamluk, and Jagatballavpur, while senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee will conduct a roadshow in Cooch Behar and hold a public meeting in Maynaguri. The party is aiming to reinforce its grassroots presence across both northern and southern districts.
The campaign has also been overshadowed by political controversy following the arrest of an individual linked to the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), which has previously worked with the Trinamool Congress. Party leaders have criticised the timing of the arrest, alleging political motives ahead of the polls, while asserting concerns over fairness in the electoral process.
With leaders from major parties actively campaigning across West Bengal, the election atmosphere has grown increasingly charged. The competing rallies, strategic outreach in key districts, and emerging controversies underline the intensity of the political contest as the state heads deeper into its multi-phase Assembly elections.
