Tripura CM Mourns Student’s Tragic Death in Delhi
Sneha Debnath’s body found in Yamuna River
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed profound sorrow over the death of Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old Delhi University student from Sabroom, South Tripura, whose body was recovered from the Yamuna River in Delhi on Sunday, six days after she went missing on July 7.
In a post on X, Saha extended condolences to Sneha’s family, stating, “I express my grief over her death, and my sympathy is with the bereaved family.” He directed Tripura Bhavan in New Delhi to provide full support to the family. Preliminary findings suggest Sneha died by suicide, with a handwritten note indicating her intent to jump from Signature Bridge. A thorough investigation by Delhi and Tripura police is underway to determine the circumstances.
Sneha, a mathematics student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, lived in Delhi with her family, who recently relocated there. Her death has sparked concerns about safety and mental health support for students.
