Security Alert In Bengaluru After Gelatin Sticks Found Near PM Modi Venue

A security alert was triggered in Bengaluru on Sunday after two gelatin sticks were found approximately three kilometres away from a venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to address a public event, according to police officials. The discovery prompted heightened security measures ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the city.
Police said the gelatin sticks were recovered during routine security checks conducted ahead of the high-profile event. The explosives were reportedly found near a footpath, raising immediate concern among security agencies overseeing the Prime Minister’s programme. The matter was quickly escalated for investigation.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Central Range Bengaluru, confirmed the recovery of the gelatin sticks and stated that the items were discovered as part of pre-event security protocols. Authorities have not yet disclosed how the materials were placed at the location or whether any individuals are suspected in connection with the incident.

Following the discovery, security arrangements in and around the venue were tightened further, with additional personnel deployed to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister’s programme. Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the origin and intent behind the placement of the explosive material.
Despite the security concern, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proceeded with his scheduled engagements in Karnataka. He participated in the 45th anniversary celebrations of The Art of Living in Bengaluru before later departing for Hyderabad, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately ₹9,400 crore. Authorities continue to examine the incident as part of a broader security review, while maintaining heightened vigilance around VIP movements and major public gatherings in the city.
