Lightning strikes IndiGo aircraft at Kolkata airport, passengers unharmed.

An IndiGo aircraft bound for Agartala was struck by lightning while parked at Kolkata airport on Friday amid heavy thunderstorms, though no passengers were injured in the incident, according to airport officials. The aircraft, identified as IndiGo flight 6E6068 (VT-IPW), was stationed at aerobridge 56L when the lightning strike occurred. The incident took place during active thunderstorm and rainfall conditions, for which the Airport Operations Control Centre had already issued weather alerts as a precautionary measure.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported among passengers, and alternative arrangements were quickly made for their onward journey. The passengers later departed to their destination on a different aircraft, identified as VT-ICD.

According to IndiGo, two ground personnel were slightly affected during the incident and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. However, they were later declared stable and “normal,” with no serious injuries reported. Authorities did not indicate any major operational disruption beyond immediate safety procedures.
