Fire Erupts At Multi-Storey Building In Greater Kailash, Delhi; No Injuries Reported
Fire at Delhi’s Greater Kailash building brought under control safely.
A fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Greater Kailash Part 1 enclave in New Delhi on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS). Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident, and all residents were safely evacuated from the premises.
According to officials, the blaze erupted at the D24 building in GK-1, with preliminary indications suggesting that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit in an air-conditioning unit. The exact cause, however, is still under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
The Delhi Fire Service received information about the fire at around 11:36 a.m., after which two fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site. Firefighters managed to contain the flames after sustained efforts, preventing the blaze from spreading to adjacent structures in the densely populated residential area.

Authorities confirmed that timely evacuation measures played a key role in ensuring there were no injuries or fatalities. Officials added that residents were moved out of the building as a precaution while firefighting operations were underway, and the situation was brought under control within a short span of time.
The incident comes shortly after a devastating fire at a bed-and-breakfast accommodation in Malviya Nagar that claimed 22 lives, including foreign nationals, and left several others injured. That tragedy had raised serious concerns about fire safety compliance in residential and commercial establishments across the capital.
Following the earlier incident, Delhi Police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to negligence and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Investigations revealed alleged fire safety violations, including lack of mandatory clearances and over-occupancy, prompting authorities to initiate a wider crackdown on safety compliance across the city.
