Hyderabad Motorcyclist Dies in High-Speed Crash While Drunk, Incident Recorded on Camera

Drunk motorcyclist dies in high-speed crash into divider in Hyderabad early morning.

A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider sustained minor injuries after a high-speed KTM Duke crashed into a road divider in Hyderabad during the early hours of Tuesday. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that the rider was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the fatal accident.

According to the Narsingi Traffic Police of Cyberabad, the incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the intervening night of June 15 and 16. The motorcycle, bearing registration number TS08KB6055, was travelling from the TSPA side towards Kali Mandir when it reportedly struck a small advertisement board installed on the road median after the rider failed to negotiate the stretch.

Police officials said the rider was allegedly speeding and intoxicated at the time of the crash. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the rider's death at the scene. The pillion rider escaped with minor injuries and was shifted to Shadan Hospital for treatment, while the deceased's body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The accident was captured on a mobile phone by the two men, who were reportedly filming their ride when the crash occurred. Police clarified that no other vehicle was involved in the incident and that the collision resulted solely from the motorcycle losing control and hitting the divider.

Authorities said the exact speed of the motorcycle will be determined through technical analysis and available electronic evidence. However, investigators noted that the extent of the damage and the force of the impact strongly suggest reckless overspeeding, which significantly reduced the rider's ability to react and avoid the collision.

The stretch near Kali Mandir and the TSPA junction has witnessed several serious road accidents in recent years, prompting repeated warnings from traffic police against speeding, especially during late-night and early-morning hours. Officials once again urged motorists to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and to adhere to prescribed speed limits, emphasising that reckless driving remains one of the leading causes of fatal road accidents.
