Dhami Launches Swadeshi Campaign in Dehradun
Uttarakhand CM urges citizens to embrace indigenous products for economic growth.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led a spirited public awareness campaign titled Swadeshi Adoption, Nation Advancement at Dehradun’s bustling Paltan Bazaar on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The event, pulsating with enthusiasm, saw Dhami rallying local traders, voluntary organizations, and citizens to embrace indigenous products, framing it not merely as a shopping choice but as a profound act of national duty.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for a self-reliant India through the Vocal for Local initiative, Dhami emphasized the transformative power of prioritizing homegrown goods. “When we choose products made in India, we’re not just buying items; we’re investing in our nation’s economic strength and creating opportunities for local employment,” he declared passionately. The Chief Minister underscored that embracing Swadeshi is a strategic move to keep India’s wealth within its borders, fostering economic resilience and positioning the country as a formidable player on the global stage.
Dhami’s message was clear: adopting Swadeshi is a catalyst for empowering local producers, artisans, and small entrepreneurs. “By following the Prime Minister’s mantra of ‘Adopt Swadeshi, Make the Country Strong,’ we can uplift our craftsmen and small businesses, making them pillars of a self-reliant India,” he said. He urged citizens to prioritize indigenous products not only in daily use but also during festivals and for gifting, transforming cultural practices into economic empowerment.

The event was a lively affair, with Dhami personally engaging with shopkeepers at Paltan Bazaar, affixing stickers emblazoned with the slogan Adopt Swadeshi, Make the Nation Strong on storefronts. The campaign resonated deeply, drawing a diverse crowd including Rajya Sabha MP and State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt, public representatives, trade union leaders, and enthusiastic citizens. Together, they pledged to champion Swadeshi, raising spirited slogans like “Adopt Swadeshi – Save the Country,” which echoed through the market.
Dhami also highlighted the broader implications of the Swadeshi movement, noting that it aligns with India’s ambition to become a global economic powerhouse. “Every rupee spent on indigenous products stays in India, fueling our growth and self-reliance,” he said, encouraging citizens to make conscious choices that support local industries. The campaign, he added, is a step toward realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), where every purchase becomes an act of nation-building.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among attendees, who vowed to integrate Swadeshi into their lives. From small traders to large crowds, the message was clear: choosing Indian-made products is a powerful way to strengthen the nation’s economy, uplift communities, and pave the way for a prosperous, self-reliant future.
