Dhami Demands Central Support For Tech-Driven Kumbh 2027 Preparations

Dhami requests rail, central support for tech-led Kumbh.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called for expedited rail clearances and enhanced central government support to ensure a technologically advanced and smoothly managed Kumbh Mela 2027. Addressing officials and stakeholders, Dhami emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure and digital integration in managing one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the upcoming Kumbh Mela, scheduled to be held in Haridwar, will witness millions of pilgrims from across India and abroad. Efficient rail connectivity is crucial to handle the massive influx, he said, urging the Ministry of Railways to fast-track approvals for special trains, additional coaches, and upgraded station facilities. “Our priority is to make travel safe, seamless, and comfortable for devotees,” Dhami stated.

Dhami also stressed the role of technology in enhancing crowd management, security, and sanitation during the festival. He proposed the integration of smart monitoring systems, digital ticketing, and mobile applications to provide real-time information to pilgrims. Such measures, he noted, would not only improve operational efficiency but also ensure the safety of millions attending the religious event.

The Chief Minister appealed to the central government to provide financial and logistical support for infrastructure upgrades, including temporary accommodations, sanitation facilities, and disaster management resources. He underscored that collaboration between state and central agencies is essential to execute a Kumbh Mela that is both safe and technologically advanced.

Officials involved in planning have already begun assessing key areas, including traffic management, medical facilities, and emergency response protocols. Dhami’s push for faster rail clearances aims to complement these initiatives, ensuring that pilgrim movement remains uninterrupted and organized. Experts noted that proactive planning at this stage would prevent bottlenecks and streamline operations closer to the festival dates.

With less than four years remaining for Kumbh Mela 2027, the Uttarakhand government is keen to combine traditional rituals with modern infrastructure solutions. Dhami’s emphasis on technology-led planning reflects a broader vision of creating a digitally enabled, secure, and efficient religious congregation. Stakeholders and devotees alike have welcomed the initiative, anticipating a festival that balances spiritual significance with modern convenience and safety.
