Uttarakhand CM Meets PM Modi, Expresses Gratitude for Centre’s Support

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in the national capital, expressing gratitude for the Centre’s continued support in the state’s development and inviting the Prime Minister to visit Devbhoomi-Uttarakhand. The meeting, described as a courtesy call, focused on ongoing projects, infrastructure initiatives, and proposals for future growth.
Dhami thanked the Prime Minister for multiple Central initiatives, including Rs 500 crore for the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh 2027, feasibility studies for river-linking projects by the National Water Development Agency, and Rs 100 crore for developing Chaurasi Kutiya in Rajaji National Park. He also acknowledged support for the Naini-Saini airstrip MoU in Pithoragarh and safe helicopter services during the Char Dham Yatra.
Highlighting infrastructure development, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for approvals related to undergrounding electric lines in Rishikesh, the Champawat bypass, the Dehradun Ring Road, and the Dehradun–Mussoorie road project. He also briefed the Prime Minister on efforts to promote Uttarakhand as a global wedding destination, citing locations such as Chopta, Duggalbitta, Patwadangar, and the Sharda Corridor, while noting the rising popularity of Ramnagar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Triyuginarayan.

Dhami emphasized the state’s focus on tourism, including Spiritual Economic Zones in Bel Kedar, Anjanisain, and Lohaghat–Shyamalatal, winter tourism initiatives, and adventure sports like river rafting, paragliding, and kayaking. Under the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, indigenous products are being marketed through the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand, alongside programmes like ‘One District–One Fair’, Bharat Darshan, Uttarakhand Darshan, and cluster schools to boost tourism, education, and rural livelihoods.
Seeking enhanced connectivity and industrial development, Dhami requested extensions of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to Haridwar and Rishikesh, policy support for defence equipment manufacturing units, and construction of the Delhi–Haldwani Expressway to improve access to industrial zones, Pantnagar Airport, and Jim Corbett National Park. He also proposed rail projects including the Rishikesh–Vyasi section inauguration, a road-cum-rail tunnel on the Tanakpur–Bageshwar line, and new rail links to Uttarkashi, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
Dhami concluded by highlighting grassroots initiatives and welfare schemes, noting over 6,000 registered homestays, the ‘Uttarastays’ portal, horticulture Centres of Excellence, and the Vibrant Village Programme. He also mentioned employment and entrepreneurship schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Solar Swarojgar Yojana and Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana, the Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana for digital welfare records, and policy measures including the Agniveer Reservation Rules–2025 and Uttarakhand Jan Vishwas Bill–2026. During the meeting, Dhami presented PM Modi with a replica of the Maa Surkanda Devi temple from Tehri district.
