Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Urges Citizens to Embrace Swadeshi for Nation-Building

CM emphasizes self-reliance and local products as key to India’s progress and global leadership.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday called on every Indian to contribute to nation-building by adopting swadeshi (locally made) products, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India. Speaking to reporters after visiting the India Bioenergy and Tech Expo 2025 at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, Gupta emphasised the importance of reflecting national pride in daily life to drive India’s development and establish the country as a global leader, or "vishwa-guru".

Gupta’s remarks came following her keynote address on the third day of the expo, which showcases advancements in bioenergy and sustainable technology, aligning with India’s push for self-reliance in critical sectors. “The most important thing is that every Indian should contribute to the development of India,” she said, urging citizens to prioritise locally produced goods as a step toward economic independence and national growth.

The Chief Minister’s call reflects the broader "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative, launched by PM Modi to promote domestic industries, reduce reliance on imports, and bolster economic resilience. By advocating for swadeshi products, Gupta highlighted their role in strengthening local economies, creating jobs, and fostering innovation, particularly in sustainable technologies showcased at the expo.
