Delhi Cantt Redevelopment: 13 Rajasthan Trains to Skip Station Halt

Indian Railways has announced that 13 Rajasthan-bound trains will temporarily skip Delhi Cantonment railway station for the next 70 days due to redevelopment work at the station. The disruption is part of an infrastructure upgrade aimed at modernising the station, with work focused on Platforms 2 and 3. To facilitate the project, railway authorities have imposed a traffic block that will remain in effect throughout the construction period, impacting train halts but not their scheduled routes.

According to railway officials, the redevelopment project is intended to improve passenger amenities and operational efficiency at Delhi Cantonment station. The ongoing work includes platform upgrades and associated infrastructure improvements, requiring temporary restrictions on train movement through the affected platforms. As a result, several trains operating between Delhi and Rajasthan will pass through the station without stopping during the maintenance period.

The Northern Railway said passengers travelling on the affected trains should plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative boarding or deboarding stations in the Delhi region. Authorities have advised travellers to verify the latest schedules before commencing their journey, as temporary operational changes may affect boarding arrangements. Railway officials have stated that every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience while ensuring the redevelopment work is completed safely and on schedule.

The redevelopment of Delhi Cantonment railway station forms part of Indian Railways' broader station modernisation programme aimed at upgrading passenger facilities across the country. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway stated that the traffic block has been carefully planned to allow uninterrupted progress of the platform upgradation works while maintaining train operations on the route. Railway authorities will continue monitoring the work and issue further operational updates if required during the 70-day period.
