Amit Shah Launches Vibrant Villages Programme-2 From Rajasthan Border Region

Amit Shah launches Vibrant Villages Programme-2 to improve connectivity in 184 Rajasthan border villages.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme-2’ on Tuesday from the India–Pakistan border region near Bikaner, in a major initiative aimed at strengthening infrastructure and connectivity in Rajasthan’s border districts. The programme is expected to focus on improving basic amenities and strategic development in remote villages located in sensitive frontier areas.

The initiative covers 184 villages across Rajasthan’s border districts, including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Sri Ganganagar. These villages have been identified for priority development under the scheme, which aims to enhance road connectivity, expand 4G mobile network coverage, improve electricity supply, and ensure better access to television and communication services in far-flung regions.

As part of his two-day visit, Amit Shah will first visit the Border Security Force (Border Security Force) outpost at Sanchu near the international border. During his visit, he is scheduled to interact with BSF personnel and inaugurate welfare initiatives for security forces. He will also review border preparedness and observe the India–Pakistan border area from a watchtower located close to the frontier.

Later in the day, the Home Minister will chair a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner at 2 p.m. The meeting will include officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Rajasthan government, BSF, and senior administrative and police officers from border districts. The discussions are expected to focus on security challenges, infrastructure needs, and coordination among agencies operating in the region.

Amit Shah arrived in Bikaner late Monday night at Nal Air Force Station, where he was received by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and other senior leaders and officials. After landing, he proceeded to the BSF headquarters and stayed there overnight. Officials noted that the visit reflects the government’s emphasis on streamlined protocols and administrative efficiency during high-level engagements.

The visit also includes a stop at the historically significant Sanchu Border Post, which played a role in the 1965 and 1971 India–Pakistan wars and is located close to the international boundary. With this programme, the Centre aims to combine border security priorities with rural development efforts, reinforcing both strategic preparedness and quality of life in frontier villages.
