Manoj Sinha reviews facilities for Amarnath pilgrims.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday reviewed arrangements for pilgrims at the Baltal base camp ahead of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor inspected key facilities, including the base camp hospital, registration counters, accommodation areas and other essential services, directing departments to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience.

Sinha instructed officials from various departments to maintain close coordination and ensure that every stage of the pilgrimage, from registration and accommodation to movement and darshan, remains hassle-free for devotees. He said the comfort and safety of pilgrims must remain the top priority and emphasised that all agencies involved should work together to provide better facilities.

During the inspection, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with service providers, sanitation workers, doctors and volunteers managing langars along the pilgrimage route. He praised their dedication and said the annual pilgrimage not only holds spiritual importance but also contributes to economic opportunities for local traders, workers and service providers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sinha directed authorities to take strict action against individuals or organisations involved in overcharging pilgrims or carrying out fraudulent registrations. He also ordered a comprehensive review of sanitation arrangements and instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour water supply at the camps. Officers briefed him on security, healthcare, accommodation, sanitation, electricity and other essential services being provided to pilgrims.

Speaking to the media, the Lieutenant Governor said that around 1.70 lakh pilgrims had offered prayers at the holy cave by the eighth day of the yatra. He said the administration, police, Army, security forces and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board were working together to ensure a safe pilgrimage. He added that special arrangements had also been made for pilgrims who arrived without prior registration.

The Lieutenant Governor said fully operational 100-bed hospitals at Baltal and Chandanwari were providing medical support, treating around 1,300 to 1,400 outpatient cases daily. He appealed to pilgrims to follow official guidelines and immediately contact camp officials or security personnel in case of any difficulty. Sinha was accompanied by senior officials from the Shrine Board, civil administration, police and security forces during the review visit.
