Alakh Pandey Applauds PM Modi’s Free Coaching Plan, Says It Will Help Students

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of free online coaching for students preparing for competitive examinations during his Independence Day address has received support from education entrepreneur and Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey. Pandey welcomed the proposal and said online education could play an important role in extending access to quality preparation resources to students living in smaller towns and villages. Modi made the announcement during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, outlining the government's plan to provide free online coaching to aspirants preparing for various competitive examinations.

The initiative is aimed at helping students who may face financial or geographical barriers when seeking access to coaching and preparation material. Reacting to the announcement in a post on X, Pandey said he appreciated the Prime Minister's promise and offered his support for the initiative. "I really appreciate Hon'ble Prime Minister's Promise about Free online Coaching for all needy students," he wrote. Pandey said he had consistently believed that online education was an effective way to make quality learning accessible to students in remote parts of the country.

Pandey also stressed that implementation would be crucial to determining the success of the proposal. "I want to see this happening on ground coz execution is the main part," he said. His comments highlighted the gap that can sometimes exist between announcing an education programme and ensuring that students can actually access and benefit from it. The proposed free coaching initiative could particularly benefit aspirants who cannot afford private coaching programmes or who live far from major education and coaching centres. Competitive examinations often require access to structured study material, experienced teachers, mock tests and regular guidance, resources that can be difficult to obtain in smaller towns and rural areas.

An online model could potentially reduce some of these geographical barriers by allowing students to access classes and preparation resources remotely. Pandey's support is significant given Physics Wallah's focus on online education and competitive examination preparation. His comments indicate that educators operating in the digital learning space see potential in a government-backed initiative that could expand access to online preparation. At the same time, his emphasis on execution points to the practical challenges involved in delivering such a programme at scale.

The government's announcement comes as students across the country continue to rely on coaching and digital learning platforms to prepare for examinations for higher education and government jobs. Free access to structured online coaching could reduce some of the financial burden on families, particularly if the programme covers a broad range of examinations and provides comprehensive preparation resources.
