Police Allege Siya Goyal, Lover Researched Murder Online Before Fiance's Killing
Police allege online searches preceded the fiance's murder.
Police investigating the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra's Pune district have uncovered fresh details suggesting that the crime was carefully planned in advance by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. According to investigators, the two accused allegedly searched online for ways to kill Agarwal, rehearsed the sequence of events before the incident and prepared responses they intended to give police if questioned. The latest findings emerged during the ongoing investigation into the death, which has drawn widespread attention due to the alleged level of planning involved.
Investigators said Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly visited Lohagad Fort before the incident to familiarise themselves with the location and rehearse the alleged murder. Police claim the pair planned to disguise themselves during the crime in an effort to avoid attracting suspicion or being identified by witnesses. Officers also alleged that the accused discussed possible police questioning in advance and practised answers they would provide if they came under investigation. These findings, police said, were gathered through the examination of digital evidence and statements recorded during the probe.
The investigation has also revealed alleged attempts to destroy digital evidence. According to officials, the accused systematically deleted their mobile phone chat history and cleared their devices' recycle bins both before and after the incident. The seized mobile phones have been sent to a forensic laboratory, where experts are attempting to recover deleted messages and other digital records that investigators believe could help establish the sequence of events and the nature of communication between the two accused. Police have indicated that the forensic analysis remains an important part of the ongoing investigation.

According to investigators, Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal had announced their engagement in February and were scheduled to marry in November. Police said the families had made elaborate wedding arrangements, including booking a palace in Jaipur reportedly worth Rs 17 crore and arranging two private aircraft to transport guests. Investigators further alleged that the fatal incident followed an earlier unsuccessful attempt on June 14, when Siya allegedly pushed Agarwal from a cliff at Lohagad Fort. Police claim he survived by grabbing onto a bush, after which she allegedly created a diversion by shouting about a snake before embracing him to avoid raising suspicion.
The case is being investigated as an alleged premeditated murder, with police continuing to gather forensic and digital evidence to strengthen the prosecution's case. Investigators are examining recovered electronic data, witness statements and other material to reconstruct the events leading up to Agarwal's death. The allegations made by police are expected to be tested during judicial proceedings, where the prosecution will be required to present evidence supporting its claims. Further developments in the case are likely as forensic reports are received and the investigation progresses.
