Police Investigate Video Of Siya Goyal Before Alleged Fiancé Killing Incident
Video surfaces in investigation of alleged fiancé killing case.
A murder investigation has been launched in Maharashtra after a 26-year-old man, Ketan Agarwal, died after falling from Lohagad Fort in what police initially believed to be an accident, but later alleged was a pre-planned killing involving his fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Babulal Chaudhary. The case, which unfolded in Pune and surrounding areas, has now been registered as murder and criminal conspiracy.
According to police, the alleged conspiracy began days before the incident when Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary reportedly met at a café in Pune on June 18 to plan the killing. Investigators claim the two discussed methods to push Ketan Agarwal off Lohagad Fort and even identified specific locations on the structure where the act could be carried out. CCTV footage from the café is said to show the pair engaged in a detailed conversation prior to the trek.
Later the same day, Siya allegedly took Ketan to Lohagad Fort in the Sahyadri hills, while Chetan followed them separately on the trek route. Police allege that during the outing, the accused pushed Ketan from behind into a gorge, leading to his death. Siya reportedly told the victim’s family afterward that he had slipped accidentally during the trek, initially framing the incident as a tragic fall.

Investigators also stated that CCTV analysis and digital evidence played a key role in uncovering the alleged conspiracy. A hooded individual seen trailing the couple on the fort was later identified by police as Chetan Chaudhary, based on surveillance footage, call records, and comparisons with social media images. Authorities also highlighted unusual behavioural patterns, including heavy clothing worn in high temperatures, as part of the suspicious activity noted during the trek.
Police further revealed that Siya and Chetan were in frequent contact for months, with records reportedly showing over 2,000 phone calls spanning nearly 238 hours. Investigators also claimed that Siya had previously attempted to push Ketan off a cliff during an earlier visit to the fort, though he survived the incident. The couple had reportedly been engaged since February and were preparing for a wedding scheduled later this year in Udaipur.
Authorities say the motive appears linked to Siya’s relationship with Chetan and her reluctance to proceed with the marriage, while also avoiding social and familial pressure associated with breaking off the engagement. Both accused have been charged, and the investigation is ongoing as police continue to examine digital evidence, witness statements, and the sequence of events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death.
