Assam Police Arrest Three For Alleged Abduction, Gang-Rape of Two Minors

Police have arrested three men for allegedly kidnapping two tribal girls from Mizoram and sexually assaulting them in a moving car in Assam’s Cachar district. The case came to authorities’ attention during the early hours of August 3, when the two girls arrived at Dholai Police Station and reported the alleged attack.

The girls reached the police station at approximately 2.30 am and told officers that they had been abducted. According to police, they initially said the accused had attempted to rape them but later alleged that they had been gang-raped despite resisting. Investigators began proceedings under the relevant legal provisions after both girls said they were minors.

The three accused were identified by police as Amjad Hussain Laskar, 20, a resident of Rajnagar; Saddam Hussain Laskar, 23, from Bhaga Bazar; and Rinku Das, 25, from Khaspur. All three are residents of Cachar district and were taken into custody as police initiated an investigation into the girls’ allegations.

Cachar Additional Superintendent of Police Rajat Pal said officers followed the required procedure because the complainants claimed to be underage. Both girls underwent mandatory medical examinations as part of the investigation. The available report did not disclose their exact ages or provide further details about their identities, which must remain protected because of the nature of the case.

Investigators are expected to examine the sequence of events, the vehicle allegedly used and other evidence relevant to the complaint.
