Police arrest Jaipur woman, lover for aunt's murder over money.

A 40-year-old married woman and her 26-year-old lover have been arrested for allegedly murdering the woman’s 65-year-old aunt and stealing valuables from her home. Police said the accused committed the crime to obtain money for an expensive lifestyle and alcohol parties.

The victim, identified as Kamla Devi, lived in Sambhar in Jaipur district and was found dead inside her residence on July 30. Gold and silver jewellery, along with cash, was discovered missing from the house following the killing, prompting the victim’s family to approach the police and seek an investigation.

Kamla Devi’s son-in-law, Prakash Narayan Sharma, filed a formal complaint alleging that unidentified people had killed her and escaped with valuables. Police subsequently registered a case and began examining CCTV recordings from the surrounding area while collecting technical and other evidence connected to the crime.

During the investigation, police identified the victim’s niece, Lalita, a resident of Kuchaman, as a suspect and detained her for questioning. Police said Lalita confessed to her involvement during interrogation. Based on the information obtained from her, investigators arrested her alleged boyfriend, Bablu Meena, a 26-year-old resident of Sikar.

Investigators said Lalita and Bablu had surveyed Kamla Devi’s residence before carrying out the alleged crime at night. During questioning, the two reportedly told police that they wanted money to support their lifestyle and partying expenses. Authorities are continuing to investigate the sequence of events and determine whether anyone else was involved.

Police recovered gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately ₹4 lakh, along with cash, an ATM card and an Aadhaar card, from the accused. The recovered valuables included two gold bangles, gold stud earrings, a nose pin, silver anklets, silver coins, toe rings and pieces of silver scrap. The seized articles are believed to have been stolen from the victim’s home.
