Assam Teen Girl Murder Case: 3 Minors Arrested Over Alleged Rape And Killing

Three Teens Held In Assam Murder Case

Assam Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Hailakandi district. The victim’s body was discovered at her residence near National Highway-6 in the Aloichora area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Katlicherra police station, late on Saturday night. Local authorities confirmed that the incident took place around 11 pm, at a time when the girl’s family members were attending a feast at a relative’s house in the vicinity.

Family members of the deceased have alleged that the minor was subjected to sexual assault before being killed. Police officers examining the scene reported that the body showed severe injury marks indicating that she had been tortured with different objects. The discovery prompted an immediate response from the Katlicherra police station, which secured the area and began gathering preliminary evidence. Neighbours and relatives who later arrived at the house expressed shock at the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death, prompting the family to formally lodge a complaint seeking a thorough investigation into the events of that night.

On Sunday, investigating officers detained five youths for questioning as part of the early stages of the probe. By Monday, three of them, aged between 17 and 19, had been formally arrested in connection with the case. One of the accused is approximately 17-and-a-half years old. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hailakandi, Amitabh Sinha, stated that given the brutality associated with the incident, the police have appealed to the court to try the underage accused as an adult. This request reflects the seriousness with which authorities are treating the matter under applicable legal provisions governing juvenile offenders in cases involving extreme violence.

According to investigating officers, the 15-year-old victim was allegedly in a relationship with one of the arrested teenagers. This detail has become a key element of the ongoing inquiry as police continue to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the discovery of the body. Officers are examining statements from family members, potential witnesses in the Aloichora area, and any available physical evidence collected from the residence and surrounding locality near National Highway-6. The investigation remains active under the supervision of the Hailakandi district police leadership.

The arrests mark a significant development in the case, yet authorities have emphasised that further inquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances of the alleged crime. Police teams are coordinating with forensic experts and legal officers to ensure that all procedural requirements are met as the matter moves toward formal charges. The family continues to seek justice, while the community in the Katlicherra police station area watches the progress of the investigation closely. Officials have not released additional details about the remaining two individuals who were initially detained but not arrested, noting that the focus remains on the three teenagers now in custody and the evidence linking them to the incident.
