NDA Leaders Hail Sweden’s Highest Honour For PM Modi As Global Recognition Of India
NDA leaders welcomed Sweden’s highest civilian honour awarded to PM Modi, calling it global recognition of India.
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders on Monday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi being conferred Sweden’s highest civilian honour, the “Royal Order of the Polar Star” Commander Grand Cross, describing it as recognition of India’s rising global stature and the Prime Minister’s international leadership. The award was presented during PM Modi’s official visit to Sweden on Sunday.
The honour was conferred by Crown Princess Victoria at a ceremony held at the County Governor’s residence, in the presence of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. According to the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office, the award was approved by King Carl XVI Gustaf and is regarded as Sweden’s highest distinction that can be bestowed upon a foreign head of government.
Reacting to the development, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said that PM Modi is widely viewed internationally as a “ray of hope” during global crises, adding that the recognition reflects not only the Prime Minister but also the people of India. He said world nations increasingly see India as a key voice in addressing global challenges.
