Jared Leto Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations from 10 Women in BBC Investigation

Academy Award-winning actor and musician Jared Leto is facing a new wave of sexual misconduct allegations after 10 women accused him of inappropriate behaviour in a BBC investigation, with several claiming they were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents. The allegations are detailed in the documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, released on Wednesday. As of now, the allegations remain unproven, and no court has determined Leto's guilt in relation to the claims.

According to the BBC investigation, four women have accused the 54-year-old actor of conduct that they allege amounted to criminal sexual offences between 2002 and 2016. One woman alleged that Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17 years old. Another claimed he threatened her with sexual assault after she was left alone with him in a hotel room at the age of 19. A third woman alleged she had a sexual relationship with Leto when she was 17 in California, where she said she was below the legal age of consent at the time.

Another accuser alleged that Leto groomed her from the age of 16 through repeated sexually explicit phone conversations. She further claimed that she was later presented with a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) intended to prevent her from speaking publicly about their alleged relationship but refused to sign it. The BBC reported that it reviewed the NDA as part of its investigation. The documentary also includes accounts from other women who described what they alleged to be inappropriate behaviour by the actor over a number of years.

The investigation has renewed public scrutiny of Leto, who has enjoyed a long career in Hollywood as both an actor and the frontman of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. The BBC documentary compiles interviews, testimony and supporting material from multiple women, while examining allegations spanning more than a decade. The broadcaster said its reporting involved reviewing documents and speaking with those making the claims as part of its investigation.

At the time of publication, the allegations remain claims made by the accusers and have not been proven in court. No conviction has been reported in connection with the allegations outlined in the documentary. As with any criminal allegation, those accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty through due legal process.
