Akshay Kumar Urges Critics To Rethink Star Ratings Ahead Of Film Release
Akshay Kumar jokes about changing film rating system.
Actor Akshay Kumar has made a humorous request to film critics and influencers ahead of the release of his upcoming film Welcome To The Jungle, which is scheduled to hit theatres on June 26. The actor, who leads a star-studded cast of 34 actors in the film, asked reviewers to “replace star ratings with laughter emojis” as he promoted the comedy entertainer on social media.
Taking to Instagram, Akshay shared a promotional poster from the film in which he is seen standing with folded hands, while the large ensemble cast appears behind him. Along with the image, he wrote a light-hearted message urging critics and digital influencers to rethink traditional rating systems. His comment was widely interpreted as a playful nod to the increasing influence of online reviews and social media reactions on film performance.
The actor’s post comes at a time when Hindi cinema often faces intense public scrutiny online, with films frequently subjected to trending debates, viral reviews, and discussions around alleged negative publicity campaigns. In this context, Akshay’s request was seen as a tongue-in-cheek remark on how audience perception is increasingly shaped by digital reactions rather than traditional criticism alone.

Welcome To The Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan, is the third instalment in the popular Welcome franchise, which began in 2007. The film features a massive ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, and several others, making it one of the largest multi-starrer Bollywood productions in recent years.
Director Ahmed Khan has previously spoken about the challenges of managing such a large-scale production, describing the shoot logistics as comparable to organising a daily large-scale event due to the number of actors, crew members, and vehicles involved. The film is expected to continue the franchise’s signature comedic tone, with audiences anticipating another mass entertainer featuring chaos, humour, and ensemble-driven storytelling.
