Skoda Octavia RS Returns to India at ₹49.99 Lakh, Sells Out in 20 Minutes

Skoda Auto India celebrates 25 years with the Octavia RS relaunch at ₹49.99 lakh, selling out in record time.

Skoda Auto India relaunched its iconic Octavia RS performance sedan on October 6, 2025, pricing the limited-edition model at Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The swift reintroduction, coinciding with the automaker's 25-year milestone in the Indian market, saw all 100 imported units sell out within just 20 minutes of pre-bookings opening, underscoring the model's enduring appeal among enthusiasts. Built in the Czech Republic and homologated to UK specifications under India's General Shared Regulation (GSR) 870, which permits up to 2,500 fully built units annually from approved markets, the Octavia RS marks a strategic nod to Skoda's heritage of blending everyday practicality with high-octane performance. Customer deliveries are slated to begin on November 6, offering a rare opportunity for buyers to own a slice of European engineering tailored for Indian roads.

The Octavia RS arrives as a fully imported halo model, reviving a nameplate that first captivated Indian buyers in the early 2000s for its sophisticated dynamics and spacious cabin. Discontinued in 2021 amid shifting market preferences toward SUVs, its return reflects Skoda's renewed focus on premium sedans amid a competitive landscape dominated by electrified crossovers. Powered by a robust 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, the car delivers 265 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque through a slick seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

This setup propels the sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in a brisk 6.4 seconds, with an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. Enhanced by a sport-tuned suspension, progressive steering, and a chassis optimised for agile handling, it promises thrills without compromising on long-distance comfort—key attributes that propelled earlier generations to cult status in India's performance car segment.

Measuring 4,709 mm in length with a 2,677 mm wheelbase, the Octavia RS boasts generous dimensions for family use, including a 600-litre boot expandable to 1,555 litres. Its exterior exudes aggression with full LED matrix headlights, dynamic LED taillights, and striking 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels, available in hues like Mamba Green and Race Blue. Inside, a driver-centric cockpit features Suedia and leather upholstery with red stitching, electrically adjustable sports seats offering memory, heating, and massage functions, and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A premium Canton 11-speaker audio setup with subwoofer elevates the auditory experience, complemented by ambient lighting and a digital virtual cockpit for intuitive control.

Safety remains paramount, with a comprehensive suite including 10 airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, a 360-degree camera, and intelligent park assist. Ownership perks include a four-year or 1 lakh km warranty and complimentary roadside assistance for the same period. The instantaneous sell-out not only validates Skoda's bold relaunch strategy but also signals robust demand for accessible performance in a market increasingly favouring imports.

As deliveries roll out next month, the Octavia RS stands poised to reignite passion for refined sedans, potentially paving the way for expanded lineups under Skoda's India 2.0 localisation blueprint. With 25 years of growth behind it—from humble beginnings to over 1 million units sold—the brand eyes sustained momentum in the premium segment.
