Maruti Suzuki Fronx Crosses 2 Lakh Exports in Under 38 Months

Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its Fronx SUV has crossed the two-lakh export milestone in under 38 months, making it the fastest SUV from India to achieve the feat. The compact SUV began exports in June 2023 and has since reached nearly 90 international markets, including Japan, Latin American countries, the Middle East, Africa and several Asian markets. The milestone highlights the growing international demand for the Made-in-India model and strengthens Maruti Suzuki's position in India's passenger vehicle export market.

The Fronx reached its first one lakh exports in less than 25 months after international shipments began. It then added another one lakh units in approximately 13 months, indicating a sharp acceleration in overseas demand. Manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the Fronx has emerged as a significant contributor to the company's export volumes and has been India's top exported passenger vehicle since FY 2024-25.

Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the rapid growth in Fronx exports reflects the model's increasing acceptance in international markets. He also said the company's sustained focus on exports has helped it maintain its position as India's leading passenger vehicle exporter. The company currently exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries, with its vehicles being shipped across multiple regions.

Japan has emerged as one of the notable markets for the Fronx. Exports to the country began in August 2024, making the Fronx the first Maruti Suzuki SUV to be exported to Japan. The company said the vehicle is now sold across close to 90 markets, spanning Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Maruti Suzuki also noted that all three of India's top exported passenger vehicles during the first quarter of FY 2026-27 came from its portfolio.

In India, the Fronx is sold through Maruti Suzuki's Nexa retail network. The SUV is currently priced from Rs 6.85 lakh to Rs 11.98 lakh, ex-showroom. It is offered with two petrol engine options, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission choices include a manual gearbox and an AMT, giving buyers multiple options across variants.

The latest export milestone comes as Maruti Suzuki continues to expand its international footprint while increasing the global presence of vehicles manufactured in India. The Fronx's ability to reach two lakh exports in less than 38 months demonstrates the model's growing importance to the company's overseas strategy. Its expanding presence across nearly 90 countries also underlines the increasing role of Indian manufacturing in Maruti Suzuki's global passenger vehicle business.
