Kia Sonet Surges Past 5 Lakh Sales in India
Kia Sonet’s stellar run hits 500,000 units milestone in record time.
Kia India has achieved a remarkable feat with its popular subcompact SUV, the Sonet, crossing the 5 lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market. Launched in 2020, the model has quickly become a cornerstone of the brand’s success, contributing around 35 percent of Kia’s total sales volumes in India. This milestone underscores the strong consumer appeal of the Sonet in the highly competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment.
The Sonet has demonstrated consistent performance, recording annual sales exceeding 1 lakh units for two straight years. Buyers are increasingly opting for higher-spec variants, attracted by its premium features, advanced connected mobility technologies, and stylish design. Priced from Rs 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom), it delivers strong value with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and turbo variants, paired with manual, automatic, and iMT transmissions.
Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India, expressed pride in the achievement, stating that every Sonet sold reflects the trust and confidence Indian customers have placed in the brand. The model’s success is further amplified by its export performance, with over 100,000 units shipped to nearly 70 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Mexico, and Asia-Pacific. Built at Kia’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh under the ‘Make in India, for the World’ ethos, the Sonet highlights the company’s growing global footprint.
