Early 2026 SUV Launches: Five Upcoming SUVs in India with Major Upgrades, EV Tech

Upcoming models set to dominate Indian roads.

The Indian automotive market is preparing for an influx of advanced SUVs in early 2026, featuring a mix of facelifted premium models, new competitors in the compact segment, and innovative electric offerings from leading manufacturers.

Mahindra's XUV 7XO, the refreshed iteration of the XUV700, is scheduled for debut on January 5, 2026, incorporating updated aesthetics such as dual-pod LED headlamps with inverted L-shaped DRLs, a blacked-out grille, and XEV 9S-inspired tail lights. Interior enhancements include a triple-screen setup, while powertrain options remain unchanged with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, available in manual or automatic transmissions, including an all-wheel-drive variant.

Nissan introduces the Tekton SUV early in 2026, built on the next-generation Renault Duster platform to challenge established players like the Hyundai Creta. Design elements draw inspiration from the Patrol, featuring prominent LED lighting and chrome detailing, with further specifications to be revealed closer to the official launch.

The new-generation Kia Seltos arrives with enlarged dimensions, revised exterior styling, advanced interior features including dual 12.3-inch displays, ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Engine choices encompass 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel units paired with six-speed transmissions, with pricing announcement set for January 2, 2026, commencing around Rs 12 lakh.

Renault revives the Duster in early 2026 on a modern platform, emphasising rugged ladder-frame-inspired design, potential hybrid or electric powertrains, and enhanced off-road capabilities with multiple terrain modes. Positioned competitively below Rs 15 lakh, the model targets adventure enthusiasts through versatile seating configurations and has undergone extensive testing in India.

Maruti Suzuki enters the electric vehicle space with the eVitara, its inaugural born-electric SUV offering 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs in front-wheel-drive configuration. The larger pack delivers a claimed ARAI range of 543 km, available across three trims with the base Delta variant equipped with the smaller battery.
