Citroën’s Sporty Basalt Vision Concept Debuts in Brazil, Redefining the Compact SUV Segment
Citroën unveils sporty 2026 Basalt Vision Concept with aggressive design at Sao Paulo Motor Show.
Citroen revealed the 2026 Basalt Vision Concept at the 2025 Sao Paulo Motor Show, showcasing a sportier and more aggressive take on its coupe-SUV. Building on the original Basalt Vision debuted in 2024, this iteration features a striking bright amber yellow finish with enhanced design elements that hint at a future performance or design-focused variant. The concept suggests Citroen's intention to expand the Basalt lineup with a sportier option.
The Basalt Vision model sports unique styling updates, including VISION badges on the front fenders, darkened skid plates, and contrasting chevrons. A redesigned rear fascia features a darker connecting tail-lamp and an aggressive bumper integrating dual chrome exhaust outlets for a bold appearance. Completing the sporty look are 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, gloss black body cladding, door protectors, and signature double-chevron inspired decals.
Citroen has not disclosed interior details yet, but the Vision likely builds on the top-spec Basalt with dual digital screens, automatic climate control, connected car technology, and ventilated front seats. The lowered stance and suspension tweaks enhance handling and cornering stability, aligning with the sportier exterior approach.

The powertrain is expected to mirror the current Basalt lineup, offering a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a five-speed manual gearbox or a 1.2-litre turbo petrol paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. With power outputs suitable for urban and highway use, the vision positions itself as a sharp and stylish option in the competitive compact SUV segment.
Citroen appears to be testing the waters with this concept, potentially planning to bring a sportier Basalt variant to markets like India, where the brand has recently launched the Basalt X with distinct styling and upgraded interiors. If launched, this model could compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Toyota Hyryder, offering buyers a more dynamic and individualistic choice.
