Xiaomi 18 Gets Larger 6.4-Inch Display and 200MP Periscope Camera

Leaks about Xiaomi’s upcoming 18 series have begun surfacing, revealing that the standard model may feature a slightly larger 6.4-inch display compared to the 6.3-inch panel on the Xiaomi 17. The upgraded screen is expected to offer enhanced content viewing while retaining the compact flagship design.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Xiaomi 18 will feature a 6.4-inch OLED display, likely with a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 3,500 nits, similar to its predecessor. The increase in screen size is aimed at improving user experience without compromising portability.

The leak also confirms that all models in the Xiaomi 18 series will sport 200-megapixel periscope telephoto cameras, a significant upgrade from the 50-megapixel telephoto sensors seen on most Xiaomi 17 models. The Ultra variant of the previous generation already had a 200MP camera, and the new series appears to expand this across the lineup.

Earlier reports indicate that Xiaomi is testing dual 200-megapixel sensors for the Xiaomi 18 Pro, likely including a main sensor and a periscope telephoto unit. This would put Xiaomi alongside Oppo in adopting dual ultra-high-resolution cameras on compact flagship devices.

In addition to the Xiaomi 18 series, Xiaomi is reportedly preparing a fifth model in the 17 series called the Xiaomi 17 Max. This new variant is said to pack a massive 8,000mAh battery and may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, making it a powerhouse for long-lasting performance.

With these upgrades, the Xiaomi 18 series is expected to deliver an enhanced photography experience, larger immersive displays, and powerful performance, positioning the brand strongly in the premium smartphone segment.
