Vivo S50 Pro Mini to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Ahead of China Launch

Vivo teases compact flagship S50 Pro Mini with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

Vivo has officially teased the S50 Pro Mini, positioning it as a compact flagship launching in China this December alongside the standard S50 model. Product Manager Han Boxiao shared details on Weibo, confirming the handset's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset—the first in Vivo's S-series—paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM at 9,600Mbps speeds and UFS 4.1 storage. Vivo claims consistent AnTuTu v10 scores exceeding 3 million points under normal conditions, surpassing prior sub-flagships by over 1 million.

The device features a 6.31-inch flat 1.5K display with 120Hz refresh rate, ideal for one-handed use, and a horizontal rear camera bar housing a dual setup: a high-sensitivity 50MP main sensor and Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto for full focal length zoom matching Vivo flagships. A 50MP front camera handles selfies and calls, while haptics come from an X-axis linear motor. Globally, it may appear as the X300 FE.

Biometrics include a second-generation 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 sensor for instant unlocks even on wet fingers—the first in its S-series segment—alongside IP68 + IP69 dust/water resistance for rugged durability. Dual speakers enhance media consumption in this pocketable form factor marketed as the "Battle Angel."

Battery life stands out with a 6,500mAh "Blue Sea" cell supporting 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, unusual for compact phones and ensuring extended usage. Tipster Digital Chat Station corroborates the 50MP IMX9 main + IMX882 telephoto combo, potentially with ultrawide, emphasizing Vivo's imaging focus.

Expected to offer 512GB storage options, the S50 Pro Mini targets premium compact seekers with flagship power in a sub-6.5-inch chassis, challenging larger rivals through superior efficiency and endurance. Pricing remains unconfirmed, but leaks suggest competitive positioning around flagship mid-range levels.
