Redmi Note 17 India Launch Date And Key Specifications Leaked

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi is reportedly preparing to launch the Redmi Note 17 in India next month, with a new leak revealing its expected launch timeline and key specifications. While the company has not officially announced the device, tipster Abhishek Yadav claims the smartphone will debut in India on August 6, with its first sale expected to begin on August 11. The reported timeline aligns with earlier rumours suggesting an early August launch.

According to the leak, the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 17 could feature a massive 8,000mAh battery, making it one of the largest batteries in the Redmi Note lineup. If the information proves accurate, the Indian model would offer a larger battery than the 7,700mAh unit available in the Chinese version. The smartphone is also tipped to sport an OLED display, although details regarding its size and refresh rate have not yet been disclosed.

For photography, the handset is expected to feature a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 400 primary rear camera, which is said to deliver improved low-light performance over its predecessor. On the front, the device is tipped to include an 8-megapixel selfie camera for video calls and self-portraits. Additional camera specifications have not yet been confirmed by the company.

The Redmi Note 17 series was introduced in China last week with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display offering 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits. The Chinese variant is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. It also runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and supports 45W wired fast charging.

In China, the smartphone features a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), accompanied by a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It remains unclear whether the Indian variant will retain the same camera hardware or receive region-specific changes. The leaked specifications suggest that battery capacity could be one of the major differences between the two versions.

Redmi has yet to officially confirm the India launch date or specifications of the Redmi Note 17. Until an announcement is made, the leaked details should be treated as preliminary information. More information regarding pricing, storage options and availability is expected to emerge in the days leading up to the reported August 6 launch event.
