Oppo Find X10, Huawei Mid-Range Phones May Adopt iPhone 17 Square Sensor

A tipster claims the Oppo Find X10 and Huawei Nova series may use a square sensor for auto-zoom Center Stage selfies.

Smartphone makers Oppo and Huawei are reportedly preparing to adopt Apple’s new Center Stage-style selfie camera technology, first introduced with the iPhone 17 series, in their upcoming devices.

According to a tip shared by noted Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, Oppo is exploring a 1:1 square selfie camera sensor for its next-generation flagship lineup, widely expected to debut as the Oppo Find X10 series. Huawei, meanwhile, is said to be planning a similar camera setup for its mid-range Nova smartphones, focusing on photography-centric users.

Apple unveiled the 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera with the iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025. Unlike conventional front-facing cameras, the system uses a square sensor that enables auto zoom and auto rotation, allowing the camera to dynamically adjust framing. The feature keeps subjects centred, expands the frame for group selfies, and even allows landscape selfies while holding the phone vertically by cropping intelligently from the sensor.

The tipster claims that Oppo’s implementation of the square sensor could be even more advanced than Apple’s, though specific technical details remain undisclosed. The feature is expected to arrive with the Oppo Find X10 series, while the rumoured Find X9 Ultra may retain camera hardware similar to existing Find X9 models.

Huawei is also said to be testing the same square sensor technology, but instead of reserving it for flagships, the company could introduce it with its Nova 16 series, bringing Centre Stage-like selfie capabilities to the mid-range segment.

The Center Stage camera was among the most praised upgrades in Gadgets 360’s iPhone 17 review, standing out as a more meaningful improvement than Apple’s new ultra-wide sensor. Support for third-party apps such as WhatsApp and Zoom further enhanced its appeal, making it a standout feature for video calls and content creation.

If these reports hold true, Oppo and Huawei could significantly raise competition in the selfie camera space, potentially bringing Apple-inspired smart framing features to a wider range of smartphones in 2026.
