iQOO 16 Launch Date Confirmed: September 29 in China

iQOO confirms September 29 China launch, three colour options.

The iQOO 16 is set to launch in China on September 29, with the Vivo sub-brand confirming the smartphone’s debut date and revealing three colour options for the upcoming device. The announcement comes as the company prepares to introduce its next flagship smartphone in the Chinese market, where it is expected to compete in the premium performance-focused segment. The launch event will provide more details about the device’s design, specifications, camera capabilities and other features that have been teased ahead of the official unveiling.

According to the company’s announcement on Weibo, the iQOO 16 launch event will begin at 7:00 pm local time in China, which is 4:30 pm Indian Standard Time. The smartphone is also confirmed to be available for purchase in China through the Vivo online store. However, iQOO has not yet announced whether the device will be launched in other markets, including India, or provided a timeline for its international availability. Pricing and storage configurations are also expected to be disclosed at the launch.

The iQOO 16 will be available in three colour options named “Chasing Light”, “Legendary” and “Racing Track”, with the names translated from Chinese. The Chasing Light variant is said to feature a laser holographic rear panel that displays red and blue hues over a silver-coloured background. The design appears to focus on giving the smartphone a distinctive appearance, continuing iQOO’s emphasis on performance-oriented devices with visually prominent finishes.

The Legendary colourway is expected to feature a rear panel developed using magnetron sputtering electroplating technology and a 670nm-thick electroplating film. This finish is intended to provide a distinct texture and appearance to the back of the device. While the company has disclosed the names and some design details of the three variants, information about the exact visual treatment of the Racing Track edition remains limited ahead of the launch.

In terms of display and camera hardware, iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 16 will use a Samsung AMOLED display featuring the latest M16 luminescent material. The smartphone will also sport a redesigned square-shaped rear camera module housing a triple-camera setup. The company has teased camera improvements over the previous-generation model, although the exact sensors, imaging capabilities and supporting camera features have not yet been officially detailed.

The company has not released the complete specifications of the iQOO 16, but earlier reports have suggested that the smartphone could be powered by a Snapdragon chipset. Additional information about its processor, battery, charging technology, camera sensors, pricing and availability is expected to emerge during the September 29 launch event. Until then, the confirmed launch date, display technology, colour options and redesigned camera module remain the key details available about the upcoming smartphone
