Jio’s Gemini vs Airtel’s Perplexity vs ChatGPT Go: Which Free AI Plan Offers the Most Value?

A detailed comparison of Jio, Airtel, and ChatGPT’s free AI plans to find the best value.

Reliance Industries and Google announced a strategic partnership on October 30, 2025, to provide eligible Jio users with 18 months of free access to the Google AI Pro subscription, valued at approximately Rs. 35,100. This move intensifies competition among telecom giants and AI leaders in India, where similar offers have already drawn millions of users. In July 2025, Bharti Airtel partnered with Perplexity AI to grant all its 360 million customers—across mobile, broadband, and DTH services—a 12-month free Perplexity Pro subscription worth Rs. 17,000.

OpenAI followed suit earlier in the week, revealing on October 28 that its ChatGPT Go plan, normally Rs. 399 monthly, will be free for one year to Indian users signing up from November 4, 2025. These time-limited promotions aim to accelerate AI adoption in the world's most populous market, allowing consumers to experiment with premium tools without upfront costs while building loyalty for the providers.

The Google AI Pro plan, accessible via the MyJio app for users aged 18-25 on unlimited 5G plans (with broader rollout planned), unlocks the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model for enhanced reasoning and a 1 million token context window. It includes 50 times more access to Deep Research features, integration with Google Workspace apps like Gmail and Docs for seamless productivity, 2TB of Google One cloud storage, and Veo 3.1 Fast for generating videos from text prompts with native audio. Priced at Rs. 1,950 monthly outside the offer, this bundle excels for Google ecosystem users focused on creative media and workflow automation, though eligibility restrictions may limit immediate access for older subscribers or those outside Jio's network.

Airtel's Perplexity Pro stands out as a research powerhouse, offering unlimited access to multiple AI models—including Gemini 2.5 Pro, GPT-5, and Claude 4.5—along with over 300 daily Pro searches, real-time citations, file uploads, and premium tools like Perplexity Labs and Reports. Claimable via the Airtel Thanks app without age or plan limits, it's ideal for knowledge workers, students, or analysts needing verifiable, multi-perspective answers rather than casual chatting or content creation. While it lacks the storage or video generation of Gemini, its strength in fact-checked, web-integrated queries makes it a top pick for in-depth investigations, outshining generalist tools in accuracy for complex topics.

OpenAI's ChatGPT Go provides a versatile entry point with expanded limits on GPT-5 for writing, coding, image generation via DALL-E, and limited Deep Research, delivering 10 times the capacity of the free tier for personalised, conversational tasks. Available to any Indian user post-November 4 without telecom ties, it prioritises broad utility and brand familiarity, making it suitable for everyday brainstorming or quick assistance. Compared to the others, it trails in specialised features like multi-model access or ecosystem integration but offers the most flexibility for non-committed users.

Ultimately, Gemini Pro suits Google loyalists craving multimedia tools, Perplexity Pro favours rigorous researchers on Airtel, and ChatGPT Go appeals to generalists seeking hassle-free AI companionship—empowering Indians to select based on their digital habits before trials expire.
