Jaipur Innovator Builds World’s First Speech-to-Speech AI That Can Sing, Whisper, and Express Emotion
Jaipur innovator unveils world’s first emotional speech-to-speech AI.
In a pioneering breakthrough emerging from Jaipur, 25-year-old IIT-BHU graduate Sparsh Agrawal has unveiled Luna AI, the world’s first speech-to-speech foundational AI model capable of singing, whispering, pausing, and responding with nuanced emotional intelligence. Built under his startup Pixa AI, Luna directly processes audio to generate lifelike speech — bypassing the traditional text-conversion step — resulting in expressive, natural, and faster real-time interaction.
Unlike conventional voice models that primarily focus on customer support interactions, Luna AI has been designed to "converse with emotion." It can modulate tone, whisper, and even sing, creating what Agrawal describes as "a more human-than-machine" communication experience. The young innovator revealed that this achievement was realized without major corporate backing or vast research infrastructure — relying instead on borrowed GPUs, cloud credits, and sheer resolve.
“Where is India’s AI? Every WhatsApp group, every conference hallway asks this question. Today, we’re sharing the answer,” Agrawal declared in a viral post on X announcing Luna’s launch. Early benchmarks indicate that the model outperforms advanced systems like OpenAI’s GPT-4 TTS and ElevenLabs by achieving 50 percent lower latency and greater naturalness. The innovation has already earned Agrawal recognition from Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and praise from leaders across the tech industry.

Agrawal’s team includes co-developers Nitish Kartik, Apoorv Singh, and Pratyush Kumar. Though built on limited resources, Luna AI has attracted early interest from automotive, gaming, and entertainment companies looking to integrate its voice capabilities. The startup, backed by investors such as Kunal Shah, Nikhil Kamath, and Kunal Kapoor, aims to establish Luna as the “voice layer” for next-generation digital ecosystems.
HCL co-founder and Padma Bhushan awardee Ajai Chowdhry lauded Luna as “India’s first amazing product in deep tech,” while noted AI researcher Sudarshan Kamath called Agrawal a “true first-principles innovator building silently out of India.” Selected as a solo founder from over 15,000 applicants by the WTFund, Agrawal says Luna marks a new era for Indian artificial intelligence — one rooted in emotional awareness and human connection rather than just automation.
